Download site clone question.

Anyone know of any good download site clones im thinking about setting up a download server because of overdownloading on alot of my shared stuff.. Wich causes the download sites to try to force you to make account to download . So im looking for a way around this and im leaning towards creating a site where theres no limit on downloads any ideas would be appriciated and taken into account.. Ty in advance..

Buy a webhost with unlimited bandwith and upload your stuff there.

Well i have several towers at home i can use for host i just want a nice download php script to run a filehosting server on..

You could just make a simple php page with a captcha thing I reckon. Like how I have it here:

Sure mines is through a webhost but you could just probably install wamp on your computer and use that to run a miniwebsite on from your home connection.

I'm sure the paid ones aren't needed for something simple as Anthony stated. I was going to mention that stackoverflow or those question sites might have nice examples that people work on. I did search and found something related to this though, wasn't too convinced it is what you needed. +_+

I am just going to say few things:

1) For download site you need very good connection
2) You must have good 7 day rotation based backup mechanism
3) You need all kinds of anti-spam and anti-bot protections
4) You need alot of free space
5) You need dedicated server, if you are going to use webhost or vps, there are limits and you will reach them very fast when the 50 active members appears.
6) You may use webhost only for the site, and dedi for the download server, but there is no point to pay for webhost then.

Anyway good luck. If you have questions how to manage the traffic and how to optimize your servers and backups and all related IT questions, i would love to give you a hand.

Ty im aware of what i need. The download site is for my work i have no plans on running a filehosting site. Just a host out of my house to share my work..As many of my shared dounloads are being over downloaded .. Ty for your imput..
