Gaming PC help?

I'm planning to build myself a new gaming PC before I go to this gaming event in february.
At the moment I've decided to have 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, the Intel Core i7-4770K Processor and a Full Tower case.

The problem I'm facing is wether I should get the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 or the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970.
I'm not really on any specific budget, but I'm not made of money either. I've done some research on it, and most people tell me to get the 7970, but I've failed to figure out the benefits of it.
Should I get the 7970 instead? Are there any big benefits?
I want the PC to be able to play high end games like the upcoming BF4 on ultra settings without framerape.

Also, do you guys have any other suggestions for which PC components I should get? Motherboard, cooling fans etc..?
I plan on watercooling my PC btw.

I'm interested in hearing your opinions and thoughts about this.

If you have no budget and you aren't made of money, what is your budget then? :/

Also, the 7970 is higher in the series which makes it better.

The difference:

+115 MHz Core Clock
+256x Stream Processors
+10 Dimension (L)
Features Both: (PIN) 8 PIN to 4 PIN Power Cable and 6 PIN to 4 PIN Power Cable
Mini Display Port to SL-DVI Active dongle (optional)

I have liquid cooling on my PC. I've had my PC for 3 years now and it has never overheated, so that's a plus.

I'm not going to pick considering that is your choice, but I would recommend getting the latest hardware/other.

I said that I hadn't any SPECIFIC budget, but I most certainly do have a budget. I don't know what my budget is yet, but I'll find out before ordering the components.
I think I might go with the 7970, cause I don't wanna buy old hardware. Like you said, newer hardware = better, but it's also = more money.

Do I really need the 7970 though? Can I run the games on ultra setting just fine with the 7950? I don't plan on streaming btw, just playing the games.

They are both good, the 7970 is slightly better than the 7950. I'm sure you'll be just fine with the graphic settings on BF4. The game isn't that amazing in graphics in my opinion. Anyway, if you have no specific budget, but you have a budget and you don't know what it is, then you obviously have some specific budget range. Make up your mind on it! :evilmegusta:

Only slightly better? The price isn't slightly higher, that's fo' sure lol
BF4 was an example, I will be playing other games. I don't think I will go over 12-14k NOK, too lazy to find out what it is in USD lol
Are you looking forward to any games Tommy?

Though I'm unsure of your budget, I'm a huge fan of the new Nvidia 700 Series, I've got GT750M sli in my laptop and it's literally one of my favorite cards I've ever owned. I don't have a specific preference to card, my desktop runs AMD while my laptop is on Nvidia. Since it's BF4 you're worried about I would stick with AMD Cards as they will have an advantage over CUDA cores. Either way both AMD cards and the Nvidia 700 series are worth looking at.

i don't see why you need all that fancy shit when in
2 years it will useless and outdated.

use your original case and buy a new motherboard and cpu
with the ddr3.

ati sucks always get geforce it will be 10 times cheaper
and better.

that will be good for the budget :)

Geforce? Pretty sure my old graphics card is Geforce 6 something.
I've just heard negative feedback about the latest Geforce series, but as you are saying, this shit will be outdated in 2 years :/
To be honest, I'm more of a Nvidia fan actually, but I wanted to go with the Radion this time, or is that stupid of me?

I'm also scavenging my old PSU and DVD-Rom, which will also help with the budget.

Honestly the only difference between Nvidia and Ati based cards are the fan base behind them. They are literally neck and neck in comparable stats, and besides with some games being developed to prefer steam processors over Nvidia's CUDA core and backward Cuda over Stream it really won't matter. Pick up the stats you like at the price that is best for you.

This is very true.

ATI isn't crap, I've used ATI for years and never even used a Nvidia card whatsoever. Crashing doesn't necessarily depend on the graphics card. During my experience with ATI, I've never had a game that crashed due to my graphics card. Your reply doesn't make much sense...

@RuneCodez : Don't let anything he said make you contemplate in not getting an ATI graphics card. There's nothing wrong with them.

Also guys, let's keep it on topic..
