New weapon type

Hey guys

I've been tinkering with some weapon models and I wonder if it's possible to have a custom weapon type with it's own projectile animation.

for example , a flamethrower or a minigun

so we can make it to be equipped in offhand maybe? as a bonus reward with few spells? cause I know creating spells is possible but I'm not sure if the whole new weapon type is possible too.

Any opinions?

Looks at the obvious A minigun concept would be just a gun with a high shoot time. Flamethrower, I guess, would replace shooting with a fire spell? Doesn't necessarily need any DBC or any other modifications, just basic scripting I would think.

well the projectile has to come out of the weapon , so it wouldn't be a character casting a fire spell for example and the fire spells we have are either created in an area , or projected out of hands or mouth.

and if minigun is just a gun with highest speed it will be just a replacement for hunter's main weapon and it would be very op . so it should be used only via spells.

there is a spell that is used by one of the mobs in Black Temple that fires alot of arrows in short time , maybe that can be edited to something that would match a minigun.

For the flamethrower, you could easily create a spell and put it on the weapon without a cd. That's what I meant. For the minigun, regardless on the way you're going to do it, wouldn't it always be OP for hunters? You could easily balance out the damage anyway.

About the mob in BT, are you sure he didn't just have the speed buff?

Well I want to add 3 new weapons to the end of the game quest reward , means I don't want it to be limited to a certain class .
should be usable by all classes and they can pick between 3 weapons , either a rocket launcher , a minigun or a flamethrower.
and I don't want it to replace the main weapons , I just want it to be a bonus

and the mob in the BT does normal range attack with it's bow and occasionally casts a spell that buffs his speed and does shadow damage with each arrow I think.

If I'm correct that item is introduced after patch 3.3.5.a which I dont have.

but I think turkey shooter is something like the one u linked.

Right now I've got a flamethrower that I'm working on . IT works fine but player still holds it like a gun and If I use the skin on a wand , it won't look good.

hm I guess this needs custom animation after all.
