During Saturday and Sunday, there were two guests downloading the same ROM over and over. They used 16TB of bandwidth doing this, yes I said Terabytes.
For this reason, we have set the Console Emulation section to private. Guests can see the section but no longer view threads.

Regardless the fact, we had already planned to move our download archive to another location so we can thin out our bandwidth usage on the server.
It's a shame it was little too late. The people who downloaded the same ROM 10k+ times, were banned via IP.

There will also be further updates throughout the week as we make planned changes to EmuDevs.

wow seriously 16TB? damn that is alot of info. why the hell someone would need so many copies is beyond reason. are you sure it was not a bot designed by your "host" to suck some more pennies from you? lol that is just sad...

Yeah I'm sure it's not from the host :p

Both IPs were non proxy and from Great Britain.
Here's a SS of that :p

It was obviously a deliberate action. We had planned to move files over, but I guess we should've did it on the weekend instead of waiting on Monday. But, how were we suppose to know that people would do that? Anyway, major downloaded files that has taken up a lot of bandwidth have been moved, so this won't happen again.

nice work guys! glad you fixed it. and you should maybe link the files to download sites instead of hosting them yourself. file hosting is where bandwidth gets slammed. and be careful with your hosting web for donors too. if they host large files that will cause issues aswell.

Links were already changed before Faded made the thread. We know how to do stuff. :p

Donators won't cause issues considering their stuff is limited. We still could keep the files on EmuDevs considering we have unlimited bandwidth, but I'd rather put it somewhere else to save that bandwidth. It's just a matter of cleaning up and learning what to host/what not to host.

Ouch. Well, just chalk it up to a learning experience.

Indeed.

I wonder why don't you forbid all links for guest users and newbies...

Because we aren't anal against the leechers. They still give us traffic, plus honestly I've always hated having to register just to download something on a forum.
