I landed on the Moon and put a flag on it, you jelly? In the new Kerbal Space Program update 0.20, you can do this! They also have more neat stuff that went with the update as well.

It is hooked up on the bottom of my spacecraft. Once I land the spacecraft on the moon, the landing struts would be long enough to give me height for me to decouple it on the surface of the moon.
