Yes and No, we need for mostly some software projects.

What the linux guy have to do?

Security(Firewall), Backups & Monitoring running game/app servers
(administration knowledge is preferred with the above)

All current income from Nomsoft goes right back in to pay for everything (which is hardly anything)

So no, at the moment nobody is paid

No answer = not accepted. So most likely if they don't contact you in week or so, you are not approved.
