Lesson learned hard way. I am wondering how to say it in more polite way, but to keep your backups on the same machine which is holding your service(s) (db, website, whatever) is not really smart. Cheap ISPs always do problems soon or later, but is your task to keep your system well backed up so you can switch servers w/o problems. Anyway i hope you will recover fast, i was just wondering where emudevs would be if those "ISP problems", were not occurring from time to time...

Yeah, I feel entirely responsible considering I backup all the time but only download the backups locally every so often. There's really
no excuse for it honestly, but at least it wasn't at a total loss. I stayed updated with the Database, but the past two months I
have been more busy unfortunately. Though, it's not like I never download them in general ;D This time I'll have scripts going that
will backup directories and databases, then upload them to my machine's FTP every couple days automatically.

Far as the ISP problems we've encountered since day 1 has indeed been a struggle, but this time we put in the extra buck and got
a server at GloboTech Communications. I can't say for sure but I do not expect any further ISP issues, especially with GTComm.

i was messing with linux and before i knew it partician 2 was toast and that was everything,i was feaking out
since i couldn't compile or do a things with out some apps.

then i remembered i backed up everything to a hd that stopped working due to a overheating issue.

it does work for the allotted time i needed to transfer everything back into the system though.

ill never think to myself again why do you have to make backups everywhere and all the time?

now i know why it is a good habit and it becomes extremely useful at times. :)

gj faded :)

Ye, automation should be always in mind of one administrator. My ideology is, I do something once, i do it twice, and if i need it to do it third time, I automate it.
Also I don't know how the things are going in USA/Canada but here in my area, you can sign contract with the ISP that they guarantee you full backup of your data no matter what happens, it costs not much more but this way you have backups on more places, which is important. Actually i think is recommendet to have backups on at least 3 different places/storages/systems..

Still, wish you quick recover!
