Hello, DarkAngel here.
I created an account on the wiki yet I do not have access to create pages.
I was wondering if I by any chance could get access to the Wiki, atleast in regards to Eluna.

I think to create pages are only for wiki authors. You will need to contact a staff member to obtain the rank.

I've got no idea on who to PM at all, is there a wiki "head admin"?.
I got confused, as the wiki states that to create a page I should click 'Create this page', but I did not have the option and it did not state requirements.

Edit: It has just been rephrased, as to clear up confusion I think. How ninja :blushed:

Faded will probably get back to you as soon as he sees this, however getting the author rank has become a pain for us to deal with. Those we've given the rank to so far usually up and disappear, or do not contribute to the wiki at all, so we've ended up having toget a lot stricter with access.

Sorry, for the amount of times we gave access to people only to end up with them never doing anything
on the wiki, I'm pretty much done adding new people. We have been getting it done ourselves in our spare time.

I get you, tho at the current wiki state, it might be better to give a few people wiki access, as to get it updated.
When people do not contribute to the wiki, you can just remove them, I don't see why it's a "big" problem really, yet I do see why you find it annoying.

Regards, DarkAngel

Edit: Do not get me wrong, I love the work you guys do, not even to speak about the fact that you do it in your freetime.

Well, it wasn't a big problem at first. However, after we done it 5 or 6 times it got annoying as shit, especially when you ask the people, "Are you going anywhere soon?" or "Are you going to disappear?" -- Their answer would be "no" but sure enough they disappear without notice..

We're fully aware that the wiki needs to be updated a lot faster. I don't mind giving people Wiki Author, but I'd like somewhat of a notice if you're going away for a week or two and won't be able to help update the wiki during that time period. Another thing is giving access to people we trust and if they know what they're doing. We don't want the wiki completely destroyed because of stupidity or something stupid that happened. That won't be much of a problem since I backup like shit crazy. :p

Anyway, if you meet and agree to the following conditions I will give you Wiki Author:

  • Give notice to any staff member if you're going away for awhile. Giving us how many days/weeks would be helpful as well
  • If you know the basics of how our Wiki works (First time author, you can ask the staff questions)
  • If you know what you're doing via Eluna or Emulation in general (This pertains to your knowledge. We don't want wrong information spreading around our wiki)
  • If you're given a task by the staff you won't really have a time limit, but we'd like for it to be done when you can get to it
  • If you disappear, author will be taken away and you will not be able to get it again. If you meet the requirements above, do you agree to this?

I am not the kind of person who suddenly disappears. And the project which I am currently working on relies on Eluna for most of it's custom functionalities.

I understand. Now, not being to stupid to read the source and test any methods out myself, I can promise not to write anything stupid.

Will not be a problem. If I at any time do not want to keep working on the wiki, I'll notify you aswell.

  • If you know the basics of how our Wiki works (First time author, you can ask the staff questions)
Shouldn't take to long to figure out. Having someone to ask questions always helps.

  • If you know what you're doing via Eluna or Emulation in general (This pertains to your knowledge. We don't want wrong information spreading around our wiki)
I'd say that I know more than enough about WoW emulation in general. I would also deem myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to Eluna.

  • If you're given a task by the staff you won't really have a time limit, but we'd like for it to be done when you can get to it.
I'd like to know what a 'task' could be. You say you do not have time limits, I do however follow deadlines when given and rarely extend them.

  • If you disappear, author will be taken away and you will not be able to get it again. If you meet the requirements above, do you agree to this?

Yes I agree to all the points stated.

I said to myself that you just quoted half of my post, so I figured you were still editing yours or something.

A task could be anything really. If something is a major priority like the Eluna documentation, you might be given specific tasks from Faded, Foereaper or myself related to that. Nothing else is a major priority and we won't ask you to do things that you don't know how either.

Glad you agree. Kinda sad I have to add requirements, but that's what happens when people are derps. Anyway, I added you to the Wiki author group via EmuDevs and the wiki. Happy editing.

There's a few things you need to know about the Eluna documentation.

If you aren't sure if MaNGOS and TrinityCore method isn't the same, check the LuaFunctions.cpp on both Eluna projects for those emulators and see. This goes for method description as well.
If a method is implemented on both MaNGOS and TrinityCore, there is a box you should add to show people they support both emulators:

Code:
[float right background=#212121 width=120]
~$$$ Implemented: $$$~
  * TrinityCore\\
  * MaNGOS
[/float]

Feel free to click Edit on other methods that have been documented to see how the BBCode is.

Haha, yes. List items screwed over the website display, when not adding them as seperate lists.

Having to add requirements for a wiki always suck. I do see why it's necesarry at times tho.

Regarding the box, will do.

Thanks, for the quick responses and adding me to the author group aswell.

Regards, DarkAngel

Ps. I guess this can be closed?

Just be sure to stick to the template of each wiki page. Breadcrumb links @ the top, then your content, then the cloud.
Refer to the syntax page for styling code
