even with home builds you run the risk of buying parts that have a lower quality check system.its like buying a 5hp Toro lawn mower from Home Depot for 250 bucks or the same model from a Toro dealer for 500 bucks. open them up and you will find BIG differences in quality of parts. i.e. plastic gears vs. metal gears. 'the one from the dealer has a BIG warranty'. all I have ever done to my IBMs are upgrades to the HDD, processor and memory. never actually had something break on them. and to be honest I think apple has the same high end quality although it would be my very last choice. now my gaming PC is a different story... its a home build from tiger direct. I picked and chose the parts and just bought a cheap tower to put it all in, and within a year, just a short few weeks ago the p/s burned out.
I own 5 IBMs (3 of them laptops) and 1 home build pc.....
if only IBM would venture into the gaming pc lol
just cuz I respect A Mac don't mean I wont use it as a boat anchor or a hydrant for my pug to piss on.
